At First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA), volunteers are the heart of our mission. Every hour you give directly supports older adults, individuals with disabilities, and others in need throughout Northeast Tennessee. Whether you’re delivering meals, offering a friendly smile, or helping behind the scenes, your time makes a real difference.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our Agency, with over 600 volunteers generously donating more than 20,000 hours in 2024. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, providing skills and experience that make a profound impact on the clients and families we serve every day.

We are grateful for the commitment of our volunteers and show our appreciation throughout the year at events such as delivering meals for Meals on Wheels.

Volunteer Opportunities.

We offer flexible opportunities to match your schedule and interests. Some of our current volunteer roles include:

  • Meals on Wheels Delivery Driver: Help bring hot meals and a human connection to homebound seniors.
  • Meals on Wheels Monthly Flex Delivery Volunteer: Flexible volunteering that fits your schedule and delivers a meal to those in need.
  • Meals on Wheels Congregate Meal Site Volunteer: Help serve hot meals to seniors at senior centers.

  • Client Care Assistant at Adult Day Services: Assist staff with caring for the clients at ADS.
  • Volunteer Guest at Adult Day Services: Showcase your hobby, educate clients on a topic, or visit clients at ADS.

  • Special Skills: Have a unique talent (tech, translation, crafts, etc.)? Let us know, there’s likely a way to use it!
