The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals and snacks to children during the summer, when school is out.
Healthy Meals for Kids All Summer Long
When school lets out for the summer, many children lose access to the healthy breakfasts and lunches they receive during the school year. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) helps fill that gap by providing free, nutritious meals to children and teens across Northeast Tennessee during the summer months.
FTHRA proudly administers the SFSP in our region, ensuring that no child goes hungry when school is out. Our goal is to help children stay healthy, active, and ready to learn when they return to school in the fall.
The First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA) is proud to sponsor the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for Summer 2026 to benefit children and families throughout Carter, Greene, and Unicoi counties.
The Summer Food Service Program helps ensure children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out for summer break. Through this program, FTHRA provides nutritious 5-day meal boxes containing shelf-stable breakfast and lunch items at no cost to children and families.
Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are provided free of charge to all children.
Please view the Summer 2026 site map and flyer below for additional information and directions.

Each site will receive one delivery per week. Meals are available to all children at no charge and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
FTHRA is committed to ensuring equal access to meal services. No child will be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or reprisal/retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

The program is open to all children and teens 18 years old and younger; no registration required. There are no income requirements or paperwork; just visit a participating meal site and enjoy a free meal.
Meals served through SFSP meet federal nutrition guidelines and include a variety of foods that are both kid-friendly and healthy. Typical meals may include:
Lean proteins and whole grains
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Milk and other nutritious beverages
Meals are prepared in partnership with local schools, community centers, and churches throughout our eight-county service area. Sites may offer breakfast, lunch, or both, depending on the location and schedule.
For many families, summer brings extra challenges when it comes to putting food on the table. The SFSP helps relieve that burden while promoting healthy eating habits and community connection.
By ensuring children have access to nutritious meals year-round, FTHRA supports stronger families, healthier communities, and brighter futures.
