Celebrating Generosity: Honoring Foster Grandparents at the 54th Spring Recognition Event

The 54th Spring Recognition Event of the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) was a resounding success, held at the beautiful First Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN, on April 12th, 2024. This annual event, eagerly anticipated by volunteers and organizers alike, provided a platform to honor the invaluable contributions of the foster grandparents who dedicate their time and energy to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in Greeneville and Greene County.

The event was a vibrant celebration, filled with entertainment, heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and exciting door prizes. Attendees were treated to live music by the talented local band, The Flyin' J's, setting the perfect tone for the occasion.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the remarkable impact of the foster grandparents. Last year alone, these dedicated volunteers collectively contributed an astounding 57,775 hours of service, positively impacting over 526 children and youth in the community. Their unwavering commitment to supporting and nurturing the next generation is truly commendable.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the recognition of FGP Director, Rhonda Humbert, whose tireless efforts and dedication were instrumental in organizing this memorable occasion. Additionally, Kristy Matthews, the administrative assistant for the Foster Grandparent Program, played a pivotal role in ensuring the event's success, overseeing the meticulous preparations with grace and efficiency.

As guests enjoyed a delicious brunch meal, generously provided by the event organizers, anticipation grew for the raffle drawing. Attendees eagerly awaited their chance to win an array of exciting door prizes, ranging from themed gift baskets filled with delightful treats to the grand prize of a flatscreen TV.
