Female Leadership Flourishes at FTHRA: A Testament to Equality and Empowerment

In Northeast Tennessee, the First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA) is known for providing social services to the community. However, it is also making waves by boldly challenging traditional workplace norms. As the nation celebrates Women's History Month, FTHRA stands out with a remarkable statistic: out of its nine program directors, a staggering seven are women.

This impressive representation of female leadership is no accident but a deliberate choice reflecting FTHRA's commitment to equality and empowerment. Each program director brings unique skills, experiences, and perspectives, contributing to the agency's success in serving the community.

Hayley Belcher leads the Adult Day Services program, providing essential care and support to disabled and elderly individuals. Kristen Long oversees the Child Care Food Program, ensuring nutritious meals for children's daycares and centers in need. Rhonda Humbert spearheads the Foster Grandparent Program, fostering intergenerational connections and mentorship. Candace Long manages NET Trans, offering vital transportation services to residents. Kassandra Wynn leads Personal Support Services, offering assistance to individuals with disabilities. Yesenia Cortez directs the Misdemeanor Probation Program, promoting rehabilitation and reintegration. Alena Oliver heads the Senior Community Service Employment Program, empowering seniors to stay active and engaged in the workforce.

Despite this remarkable achievement, female leadership remains a rarity in many workplaces across the country. According to a report by Catalyst, women held only 28.6% of senior management roles globally in 2020. However, research consistently shows the benefits of diverse leadership, including improved financial performance, enhanced innovation, and better decision-making.

At FTHRA, female leadership is not just about representation but about creating an inclusive and supportive work environment where everyone can thrive. The agency is committed to equal treatment and anti-discriminatory practices, ensuring that all employees have the opportunity to succeed regardless of gender.

As we celebrate Women's History Month, let us recognize and applaud the women leaders at FTHRA who continue to inspire and empower others. Their dedication, passion, and resilience serve as a testament to the transformative power of female leadership in the workplace.
